Craig Roberts and friend at last nights cast and crew screening.

Last night was our official cast and crew screening of our finished film ahead of our forthcoming Berlin adventures. It was a wonderful occasion and a lovely excuse to see everyone from our beloved Comes A Bright Day family and catch up ahead of sending our baby out into the world.

To celebrate the event, and their involvement in the film, Paul Smith held a special exhibition of on set photography by Mary McCartney in their stunning Mayfair gallery space, itself a hidden gem amid the artistic quarter of this exclusive London district.

9 Albemarle Street, Mayfair

Cameron and Clegg aka Kevin McKidd and Josef Altin by Mary McCartney.

The screening took place at the Mayfair Curzon, a very appropriate location set neatly within the heart of where our film’s story takes place, and truly one of London’s somewhat hidden cinematic gems.

First look at Comes A Bright Day artwork.

While Kevin McKidd was unable to join us last night (a small matter of North America and the Atlantic ocean standing between us) we were blessed by the presence of Craig Roberts, Imogen Poots, Timothy Spall and Josef Altin as well as Mr. Geoff Bell and Anthony Welsh along with a good number of our wonderful crew. Simon and all of the production partners would like to thank you one and all for coming along to see us and the film last night.

Keep your eyes peeled for more upcoming hidden gems connected with the film and our premier in Berlin in the days and weeks ahead!

It was a busy day online for us last Friday with Screendaily, Indiewire and the Hollywood Reporter all leading with the headline that we are to have our world premier at the 62nd International Berlin Film Festival in the Generation 14+ section.

We were holding off from officially announcing our good news until we had the full and complete details of screening times and locations for you all but this just goes to show you can’t keep good news quiet for long, and why indeed would you for that matter? So a big thanks to those reporters and publications responsible for breaking the story for us.

In the same vein Simon Aboud (who you all know by now is writer and director of Comes A Bright Day) had this to say on behalf of the entire production about the film’s inclusion in Berlin’s official selection -

We are so happy that the premiere of Comes A Bright Day is going to be at such a prestigious festival. We couldn’t have hoped for a better start for the film.

We’ll keep you posted of all the dates, times and locations and we’ll also be sure to update you all of proceedings from the red carpet and beyond as and when they happen on the ground while we’re there.

In a world where studio movies often get release dates before they have a script, it’s relatively easy to know what films to look forward to in the coming year. The indie world is a little trickier

Thankfully they’ve taken the pain out if for one and all and have had a look at some of the non-studio pictures that look promising in the next twelve months for us. You can check out the list here.

Suffice it for us to say you may be interested to scroll down through the alphabetically listed indie line-up to C, and for us to also say thanks to the them for their interest in our intriguingly genre-hopping picture. We sure hope you like our odd little mix.

So what did come in between pre-production and wrap? That’s the question we know you’ve all been asking. Night Fever! That’s what. Well at first anyway.

In this glimpse behind the scenes the cast and crew of the UK independent feature film COMES A BRIGHT DAY share the highs and lows of their sleep deprived experiences during the first week of night shoots while filming on location in and around Mayfair, London W1. They suffered so that you may enjoy, and we sincerely hope that you do.

DISCLAIMER: For all of you who have come here believing the title of this post was a typo, and that someone had just missed out that Speacial K and have found nothing what-so-ever to do with Gotham’s favourite son; WELCOME! We hope you enjoy our film anyway too.
